Number Plate Protectors

Are they legal?
Yes. At Altrex we have manufactured and distributed number plate protectors for over 15 years in Australia. They are legal in all states and do not contravene the regulations laid down in the Motor Traffic Regulations in any state or territory. The regulations state that a number plate cover must not cause the letters or numbers on a number plate to be obscured in any way. Provided your number plate protector is clean and does not obscure your plate’s letters or numbers in any way, your Altrex Number Plate Protector is legal.

Neither the lined or unlined Altrex Number Plate Protectors prevent the letters or numbers from being clearly seen from a long distance (in excess of 20m which is the legal requirement). None of our covers are tinted. All Altrex covers are flat across the entire surface. They do not contain any reflective material nor do they have any characteristics which impede radar or speed cameras.

If you have any questions about this issue please do not hesitate to contact us. We can supply copies of all approvals from the police and motor transport relevant authorities on request.

Will they prevent speed cameras from photographing my number plate?
No, Altrex Number Plate Protectors do not prevent your number plate from being photographed by any speed camera.

Window Tint and Sun Protection

My window tint doesn't appear to have any backing paper?
The backing paper on the window tint is very fine. It may seem that there is no backing paper present - this is not the case.

How do I safely remove the backing paper?
If you are having trouble separating the backing paper from the tint we suggest two possible ways to remove it safely. 1. Place a small piece of sticky tape on each side of the tint. Slowly peel the tint and backing paper apart. 2. Cut a small slit in the tint carefully using scissors. Using your fingernail, gently pick the backing paper off the tint.

Is it legal?
We suggest you check legality regarding VLT and legal application of window tint in your state. In most states, a minimum VLT OF 35% is required.

What does VLT mean?
VLT means "Visible Light Transmission". It represents the ratio of the amount of total visible light that is allowed to pass through the tint. For example 35%, VLT allows 35% of the total visible light to pass through the tint. 5% VLT only allows 5% visible light to pass through and so is therefore a darker tint.

When is the best time of day to install my window tint?
Pick a time of day when the window is not in direct sunlight to clean and install the film product.

Is window tinting easy to do?
Window Tinting does take some skill and is not for everyone. However, if you have a good do-it-yourself mentality you should be able to get a professional looking end result with the help of detailed instructions and application kit.

How long will it take to tint my car?
Plan on spending half a day to tint your car. Most cars take the average do-it-yourself beginner about 4 hours.

Do you offer any installation support?
We have provided all the tools and instructions you need to complete the installation on your own. If you have any questions please call us on 02 9905 5055 or email us at sales@altrex.com.au during business hours and our trained staff will be happy to assist.

How can I remove my window tint?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    If required, your window tint can be removed using a razor blade to carefully scrape away small sections at a time. Personal Digital Breath Tester

How do I turn on my AlcoLimit?
Depress and hold down the on/off button for more than 1 second until the unit turns on.

How do I know when it's ready for use?
AlcoLimit goes through a warm up process after it's turned on. First it will count down to zero. When 0.00 appears on the screen and the WAIT signal in the bottom left corner of the screen disappears. AlcoLimit is now ready for use.

How long must I wait after drinking alcohol before using AlcoLimit?
In order to get an accurate reading we recommend you wait 20 minutes. If you don't wait 20 minutes you will also unnecessarily saturate the sensor with alcohol vapour, resulting in recalibration (sensor cleaning) to be needed earlier. NEVER blow into the AlcoLimit while drinking as this will damage the sensor and void your warranty.

How often do I need to have my AlcoLimit recalibrated?
Once a year is the standard recommendation. However, if your AlcoLimit has been heavily used and the countdown when turning the AlcoLimit on takes one minute then, at this point, we recommend recalibration.

How do I have my AlcoLimit recalibrated?
"Send it directly to Liquid Oxygen Supplies Pty Ltd. PO Box 6101,
Narraweena NSW 2099. They have a special purpose recalibration machine. Your first recalibration within 12 months of purchase is free with your proof of purchase. Subsequent recalibrations cost $30."

What kind of batteries does AlcoLimit use?
AlcoLimit uses 2 AA Alkaline batteries which are included in your purchase. When the battery signal constantly flashes in the lower middle of the screen it is time to replace the batteries. We recommend use of high quality batteries such as Duracell.

Plaese note the special 'AlcoLimit Breathalyser Returns Policy'

Multi Function Console Box

How do I install my new console?

The rear of the packaging has the assembly pictorials to assist with your installation.

To attach the legs, the rear tray must be opened allowing the bolts to be dropped in through the floor of the console. The nuts are then attached from underneath to reach the legs (this can be adjusted in a variety of positions). The lower and upper portions of the legs are attached with the bolts/nuts to form a platform for the console to sit on.

A strap is also included for those wishing to attach the new console to an existing armrest. The strap channels through the same holes as the bolts for the legs and then ties under the existing armrest.
